Lip Flap Repair

Mandibular Repair for Oral Cancer

These illustrations show stages of a mandibular repair for oral cancer treatment. The shaded area indicates the extent of cancer in the mandible (a). The cancerous portion of mandible is resected and a reconstruction bar is placed (b). A bone flap, harvested from the leg, is adapted to the remaining mandible and reconstruction bar to complete the repair (c). The repaired mandible is ghosted within a portrait of the patient for orientation (d).
