Porcine Enteric Calicivirus (PEC) infection mechanism

This illustration demonstrates that bile acids in intestinal fluid are essential for porcine enteric calicivirus (PEC) growth. Bile acids induce an increase in intestinal intracellular cAMP concentration, which fosters PEC replication, and results in villous atrophy and diarrhea.
